The Violet Leaf Lamp
Context
The Violet Leaf Lamp project focuses on creating a light sculpture inspired by the intricate features of a natural specimen—the violet leaf. The initiative involved a comprehensive analysis of the violet leaf's characteristics, leading to the development of wallpaper designs and paper models. The ultimate goal was to distill the unique qualities of the specimen and translate them into a captivating light sculpture.

Ideation
To begin, I extracted and distilled the inherent qualities of the violet leaf to inform the creation of sophisticated wallpaper patterns and meaningful forms. Commencing with a comprehensive documentation of the leaf at micro, mezzo, and macro levels, I engaged in a meticulous analysis of its structural intricacies, symmetry, motifs, textures, and constituent elements. This analytical process was then meticulously translated into detailed diagrams utilizing design software, specifically Rhino 7.
Subsequently, I translated the inherent attributes of the leaf into captivating wallpaper designs.
Wallpaper 1: I orchestrated a deliberate manipulation of the leaf motif's symmetry, delving into diverse configurations to examine the various interactions between individual structures.
Wallpaper 2: Employing a combination of both the parts-to-whole diagram and structural elements, I investigated the nuanced interplay among the leaves. This exploration focused on their collective interaction, emphasizing the creation of intricate parts within the whole, as illustrated in the accompanying diagram.
I translated the inherent characteristics of the leaf into abstract paper models. Within this context, I conducted an in-depth exploration of the interplay between texture and symmetry, experimenting with diverse approaches and configurations.
Final Concept
Concluding the project, I crafted a pendant lamp suspended from above, drawing inspiration from the symmetrical and textural qualities of the Violet Leaf.
